Prompto came home with a dog-tired (heh! GET IT?) baby in his arms and immediately handed the worn-out birthday girl to her mother with a kiss, and then promptoly banished them both from the kitchen so that he could get started on whipping up an amazing....well, okay, okay, he was no Ignis in the kitchen, let's be real, so let's go with a relatively mediocre but decidedly heartfelt Valentine's Day dinner with a wine that came (begrudgingly from Argentina) recommended by Ignis when Prompto called him in a slight panic about not knowing the first thing about that kind of thing.

The mint chocolate cake for dessert later, however, he did pick up from the bakery. Sure, he'd made plenty of cakes before, especially for Liz's birthday, but he wanted to focus on dinner, and he wanted the dessert to be undeniably perfect. And as he was finishing up, he was just going to set the table nice and romantically for two, and then pop his head out of the kitchen to check on how things are going.

"So?" he asked. "Ready for your epic romantic Valentine's dinner now?"

[[ oh, hey, it's for that wifey-type person! who'd have thought?? ]]

Prompto had considered a return to the same resort that he and Liz had shipped off to a year ago for their honeymoon, but with so many islands down in the Caribbean to enjoy (and without Summer footing some of the bill as a wedding gift), he figured he should angle for something a little different. But once he saw one of the islands with a relatively affordable resort on it was called St. Lucia...well...

How could he not?

They'd arrived yesterday, of course, and they took a lot of time to just sort of get a lay of the land and a feel for the place and tried to relax on the beach for a nice St. Lucian (!!) sunset, but most of that time was also spent trying very hard (and failing) to not constantly check their phones and text Gladio about how things were going with Noctra, if there were any troubles, was she eating okay? She didn't seem to be crying or upset or distraught they were gone, did she? Did they need them to come home? They could come home!

But Gladio had been very patient at reassuring them, and, when that patience started to slip, he just had Ignis take over with the reassurances, and, between the two of them (and the mention that Nell had also offered to help if needed, too), Prompto was able to at least relax enough to eventually get some rest and look forward to at least a few more days of worrying in paradise.

He really did hope that Saturday would be less worrying and flailing as they started to get more familiar with the idea of it being just the two of them to enjoy the sun and the warmth and each other's company.

There was a little stab of guilt for it, but, Prompto had to admit, it was really nice actually sleeping in and being woken up by the warmth and the sun and snuggling into his wife beside him in bed without any kids or cats immediately demanding attention, and just gave a happy, contented sigh.

[[ mostly for the wife, obviously, but can be open for texts and calls that will definitely not induce flailing, really! ]]

It was an absolutely beautiful day in Duscae. Well, actually, if he was entirely honest, it was a little too warm for Prompto's tastes, but it could be as scorching hot as the surface of the very sun and Prompto would be fine with it, because he'd managed to convince Liz (it hadn't been that hard) to be dragged back to Eos with him that weekend so that they could have a date at pretty much one of the greatest places in the entire multiverse: the chocobo farm!

Because Liz had never even seen a chocobo yet, much less ridden on one, and that was obviously a crime that needed to be rectified immediately, and, thankfully, it was a pretty easy fix. It was kind of exciting for him beyond the chocobos, too, because this was his first time out of the city without the others, which meant he was going to be particularly nervous about making sure they manage to get back well before nightfall, but they'd gotten an early start, so they should have plenty of time.

Even this early in the morning, there was some light activity going on around the small ranch, the farm hands getting ready to feed the chocobos and corral all the fat little scurrying chocochicks underfoot. A truck selling weapons and supplies had just parked off to the side, opening its doors to show off its wares to more adventurous types planning to head out into the wilds. A few people sat at some tables underneath umbrellas to have breakfast, with old Wiz Forlane overseeing it all. Overall, an excellent day for some chocobos!

Well, every day was an excellent day for chocobos, if you asked Prompto, but he was pretty sure he couldn't have asked for a better one, and he grinned over at Liz as they arrived, fighting off the urge to just instantly drag her over to the pen with the chocobos, because just look at them, Liz! They were right there, in all their chocobo glory! But they could build up to it. He could be patient! Sure!

"Well," he said, "here we are!"

And now the real challenge was going to just be ignoring the constant messages from the other guys reminding him not to lose his phone like he did the last time they were there!

Like, dang, guys, you have some weird creepy asshole pilpher your phone once, and you never hear the end of it!

[[ NBF for distance, obviously, and also, obviously, for that girl he kinda likes or something, idk ]]
