While the current rash of animal transformations that had struck Fandom Island had only lasted about a week, time was moving very differently in Eos, and it had been well over a month since Gladio had turned into his very lovely namesake flower and Prompto had been turned into a puppy. And the world may have descended into darkness and ruin for most, but puppy!Prompto? Was discovering that even the Apocalypse wasn't half bad if you were smoll and adorable and furry on four legs.

Of course, that had an awful lot to do with the fact that Cindy had, despite Ignis' best efforts to sway her away from such a thing, all but claimed the little golden retriever as her own, and that little golden retriever was certainly in no position to argue with that! And let it be known, he wasn't merely basking in the attention now doted on him by his new charge, either! He made himself useful, fetching tools for her when she needed them, chasing away imps when they got too close to the Hammerhead's enclosure, and occasionally serving as an aid to Ignis when Cindy sent him out for parts. Between the two of them, they were the best hunters for supplies around!

Yeah, life as the mechanic's new canine companion was pretty good )

And that was how Prompto Argentum came to be splayed out on the floor of Takka's old diner wearing nothing but a very tiny pair of denim hot shorts, wondering if he would just be better off disappearing into the darkness for good instead of waiting for Ignis to show up with his actual clothes.

[[ NFI, NFB, OOC welcome, like I could refuse this once it was in my head, c'mon! ]]

It had been a long journey still down along the coast of the Cygillan Ocean before they reached Cape Caem, finally, with a few pitstops for Gladio to stretch his legs, cramped as they were in the back seat with the addition of Iris, and to better take in some of the views. Prompto hadn't stopped taking pictures of the journey so far, pretty much from the moment they set out, two weeks ago (had it really only been that long? How it had been so long already?), but there was something about the shot he managed to snag of that vast ocean and their destination spotted far up ahead along the cliffs that made him pause for a moment. And when they got back to the car, he transferred the picture from his camera to his phone and, even though he was pretty sure it was just going to disappear into the ether between them, he sent it off to Liz.

Almost there!!! he typed out the text. But I really wish I could just be with you.

Pretty impressive lighthouse… )

Gladio grinned, just a bit, and gave a confident, cocksure roll of his shoulders. "Not long enough for you to miss me. Take care of Iris while I'm gone, alright? Make sure she doesn't get into too much trouble."

"I thought I was the trouble," Noctis countered, and Gladio, grunting in amusement, just set one his meaty hands on Noct's shoulder, squeezed it a little, and then flicked it against the back of his head before turning to go, heading down the way they came with his long, determined strides.

And Noctis forced himself not to linger there watching him, as he turned toward the house, the smells of Ignis' cooking and the cheerful banter between Talcott and Prompto as the kid told him about their adventures in coming here from Lestallum hitting him before he even made it back up the stairs.

[[ and thus the end of Final Fantasy XV Chapter Six - A Way Forward, with just the slightest tidbit of the start of Chapter Seven - Party of Three. NFB, NFI, OOC welcome, yadda yadda yadda ]]

"Don't suppose the Crownsguard is still active," Gladio noted, as they headed back down the now all too familiar road to Hammerhead, leaving the blockade and the smoking wreckage of Insomnia behind them…for now.

"Wouldn't count on it," Ignis agreed. "Not with the Marshal out here."

I…wonder how things are….in the city…. )

With the long, hard day they'd had slowly, finally coming to an end, and after having the location of the tombs, just beyond the Hunter's outpost far to the north, pointed out to them on the map by Cindy, it was clear that they couldn't make it there before nightfall. Battered, broken, and beaten, if not physically but in spirit, it was too dangerous to risk encountering daemons at night, and, besides, Imperial troops were everywhere, airdropping along the routes as another way to tighten their grip on Lucis and the surrounding areas.

So they headed, once again, out to make camp at a nearby Haven under the stars, a night filled with quiet brooding and reflection, and Prompto sitting there, out by the fire, hunched over his phone, trying and trying to just get anything through.

No service.

No service….

[[ and fin for the day. More dialogue swept heavily from Final Fantasy XV, but Chapter 2: No Turning Back this time! NFB, NFI, TBC, but of course OOC is love ]]
