Nina's Birthday Party!! Argentum Residence; Insomnia, Lucis; Eos; All Day Saturday [05//29].

Prompto had been planning for this thing for a while and it was finally time for all his hard work to come to fruition! Nestled among dozens of other similar houses on a quiet residential street, the Argentum house was usually unremarkable, just one among many typical Tokyo Insomnian homes. But today? Oh, today was definitely different! There would be no mistaking which house was Prompto and Nina's! Pink, yellow, and blue balloons were tied to the mailbox, to the fence, even the corners of the eaves on the roof, and streamers of the same color dripped from the roof as well. A large banner reading "HAPPY BIRTHDAY NINA!!" was hung from the wall and could easily be seen from the street, which had been blocked to traffic for the purposes of the party. After all, they didn't exactly have a backyard, so Prompto had commandeered as much space as he could. Where else would he put the bouncy house??? There was also a table with snacks and beverages out there, and a costumed moogle out there to greet guests and occasionally put on a little show. There was a stereo pumping out some fun, festive music into the air, and that was just the outside!

Because the door was open and there was a sign that clearly indicated there was plenty more fun inside and that everyone was welcome to come in, where they'd find more food in the kitchen and dining room, including a very moddable extensive Build Your Own Cupcake Bar and featuring a fruit and macaroon birthday cake as well as a more traditional one, and then, in the living room, the guests would find everything rearranged around a makeshift karaoke stage, because that's right, everyone, there is definitely going to be karaoke at this party!

And just wait until Prompto started getting everyone together for the games!

Look. He'd never really had a stereotypical backyard birthday party growing up, and he knew for a fact that Nina definitely hadn't, either, and so that was absolutely what was happening today! So grab yourself a party hat (unless you're Nina! Then you get a crown!), maybe a few noisemakers and rainbow sparklers, and get ready to have a great time!

Hopefully, everyone's portal got them here okay, and at least it should be pretty easy to find the party in this otherwise sleepy suburban section of the city! Come on in and mingle with your fellow guests and try to decide if the moogle guy is cute or creepy.

(Just be glad Prompto also didn't bring in a Kenny Crow).

Even though Astrid was from what coudl be considered 'the normal world,' birthday parties like this definitely hadn't been a part of her own childhood, either, adding an extra level of surreal amusement over the fact that this one was technically taking place on another planet, although it really didn't feel like one at all, except maybe once you started paying attention to the little details.

Either way, she wouldn't want to miss Nina's birthday party, so she was there, with a party hat on in the spirit of things and trying to hold off on slinking away somewhere to just start drawing everything around her, especially that moogle.

Well, it was a very good thing that this party did include such a considerable outdoors portion because it was very clear that standard Insomnia middle-class households were not built with towering, growing Zora princes in mind! No matter, though! He was thrilled just to get the chance to celebrate his dear friend's birthday at her own house where he might not normally get the chance to visit! Fantastic! Who didn't love a good party among friends?

(And if he might have collected just a few of the blue balloons for himself as the day went on, well...it was very nice of Prompto to have included that touch, he felt).

Seivarden didn't really know Nina, and just remembered her as the kid with a really bad taste in gloves, but Prompto was now staying at her place, and she was here mostly for him.

How convenient that Prompto, bouncing around as he went about his good party host duties and just bouncing around from the fact that he was Prompto, happened to pass by just in time to catch that from Seivarden, and he couldn't help the proud grin that spread over his face to hear it.

It was for Nina, after all, and so making sure it was impressive was a pretty big deal!

"Awww, thanks!" he beamed. "And thanks for coming, too, Seivarden!" He gestured a little bit with his hands, as if introducing the new world to her. "Welcome to Insomnia! Or, well, at least a part of it. The part where I live, anyway."

So in case she ever wondered where Prompto spent his time when not in Fandom....this was it! Or, well, part of it, because, let's be honest, he spent just as much time crashing at Noct's apartment as he did his own house, but still!

Well, there weren't a whole lot of Insomnian teenage girls who could say that the Crown Prince himself was at their birthday parties, but that was definitely another reason for the road to be blocked off the way it was.

But Noctis would be skipping the party hats, thanks. He'd actually brought his own...

What? It was the official royal festival attire! Wearing anything else would be like an insult not only to his best friend hosting the party, but to his best friend's sister who the party was for!

That's what Ignis had said, anyway.

It didn't occur to him until quite a bit later that maybe Ignis had just been trolling him....

Well, there was a moogle walking around taking pictures and forcing people to dance with it, so Noctis supposed a plush cat serving beverages was par for the course, even though he definitely didn't remember Prompto mentioning anything about it.

It did seem to fit Prompto's MO pretty well, though.

"Oh," he said, frowning a little, even though he took the drink. "Erm. Thanks..."

They didn't really have bouncy houses back home but the rest of it, even the man in the costume, they did and Elli was just delighted by both how wonderful everything was and by how familiar it felt at the same time...

Even the fact that she'd had to step through a portal to get here was hardly a blip today.

"I'm not very good at photos," she admitted to the person in the costume. "But... selfie with me?"

She was at least trying to put into use what she'd learned this semester!

Well, Astrid had invited her to go a birthday party on another planet and it wasn't like she had huge plans in general for her Saturday, so here she was, vaguely disappointed that it didn't really feel like another planet.

But the party hat was extremely cute!

Troy and Nina didn't exactly get along too great, and Troy wasn't even supposed to celebrate birthdays? But he felt like if you received an email invitation to take a portal to a party on another planet, you should definitely take it, although he had to admit, if it weren't for the fact that he knew people here and that there was a party going on, he'd have thought that he'd gotten the wrong portal, because there were definitely way less blue and green people here than he was expecting....

And he was so going to own that bouncy house later.

Iris knew some of the people Prompto and Nina went to school with were a little bit different, and she supposed he could be a hired entertainer like the moogle, but if there was a walking, talking plush cat at a party, Iris was going to talk to him, dammit!

"Oh my gosh!" she gushed. "Look at you! Are you a friend of Nina's?"

Gladio was there on the outskirts of the party, looking more like a bouncer than an actual guest (although, to be fair, he was definitely on bodyguard prince-watching duty, too), and wondering if it would just be totally unfair if he were to take on that piñata before anyone else got the chance...

And because she knew good and well he was half-working half-enjoying things, Nina waited until Ignis was talking to Noctis before she wandered over to bother Gladio.

"As princess today," she said, grinning up at him. "I would like a hug!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Gladio nodded. "I work with them," he said, which maybe didn't directly answer the question, but close enough to a yes in his book. "You know them from Fandom?"

It was pretty clear, though, really, if anyone know them without knowing who he was.

He offered out a hand, markedly ungloved, as he was really the only one of the four who actually never wore them except in full uniform.

"Gladio Amicitia."

Liam had not, strictly speaking, met Gladio. But he'd seen him around during Parents' Weekend a couple years ago, and then when he'd been in town for Prompto's graduation.

"I recognize that look," he said, sidling up to him at some point.

Liam was, naturally, here. And had actually found himself something in an actual color.

He was also somewhat glad to see he wasn't the only adult in attendance (the recent graduates who'd made it kind-of-sort-of counted as adults too, he supposed).

Obviously, Prompto knew Liam was going to be there, but there was still a weird sort of nervousness that he wouldn't be able to make it? Even though he was pretty sure Liam wouldn't miss it for anything. Look, you can't honestly expect a guy's anxieties about making sure his sister had the best and most perfect birthday ever to make sense, can you?

"Welcome to the party, man! And, uhhhh, my house, I guess!"

Maybe that was part of the nervousness, too, because it wasn't just his house, but Nina's, too, and, like, if Nina's dad didn't approve of her house, then what??
