The Apartment above the Photo Hut; Sunday Afternoon [02/11] - PuppyBowl Birthday Party!

Prompto would be entirely honest; if there was anything a bit different going on in town, he was completely unaware of it, because he'd been singularly focused since pretty much Friday on getting things all ready and set up for Noctra's birthday party today. The decorations were an amalgamation of both puppy things and football things, with a both First Year Down! and Let's Pawty! balloons to really drive it home.

And, of course, the birthday girl herself was showing her appreciation for the theme, as well! Unfortunately, with her dad's excitement all morning in getting things up, she hadn't been able to nap like he was hoping she would, so he was holding his breath that the whole thing wouldn't make her too cranky or overwhelmed, but at least there was plenty to distract her in the meantime. Including a little help from Rain pulling in duty as Party Ruferee.

Then there was getting everything with the catering set out for the guests, which included your typical moddable game day fare, but especially puppy chow, mini hot dogs, and, of course pizza rolls! There were a puppy bowl birthday cake, even, with some vegan cupcake puppy players!

And, of course, near the entrance, there were plenty of party hats for anyone who wanted to claim their allegiance for Team Ruff or Team Fluff or just Team Noctra (he suspected those would be the most popular, really).

And for once, after everything was set up and copious amounts of pictures had been taken, Prompto actually wasn't feeling like he hadn't gone enough on the theme, and was feeling pretty good about this one, actually!

[[ open party is open! If you've ever talked to Prompto or Liz even once, you probably got an invitation. Heck, even if you've never talked to either of them, you could have ~mysteriously~ gotten one, too! Maybe it's your big destiny to meet your true love at a one-year-old's puppy bowl party, you don't know!! ]]

"Lils," Gladio, predictably, responded in kind, with a snort to go along with his grin. "And I'll believe it when I see it. I'll just tell him I'm just making sure none of the food goes to waste."

He lifted his scarred brow at her because checkmate, with a little touch of let's not talk about why he might need some relaxation in the first place.

"So how's Argentina?"

"And he'll likely remind you that he doesn't consider hot dogs any kind of food," she retorted, raising her eyebrow right back with a little bit of if we do, I'm starting with your bullshit king, actually. After all, Ignis' decision to throw himself into protecting a city from zombies was just the most recent stressor on a lifetime of them. Maybe if Regis hadn't forced him into the role of primary caretaker at six years old, Ignis wouldn't have to amend 'tragically' to his loyalty - or were we just not ready to have that conversation yet?

If you wanted to come for her Gladio, you best not miss.

"Fantastic," Liliana said. "I haven't convinced him to give up the itinerary yet, but he did put multiple entries for fun, relaxing, and lounging on it, so I can't complain."

Hey, Gladio wasn't here to condone any of Regis' actions. In fact, he had 113 generations' worth of weight inked into his broad shoulders that would like to let Liliana know if she had complaints, she might need to get in line.

But he also wasn't turning his nose up at those decisions while also reaping the benefit of them, either.

For now, though, there was just....a pause.

"I want to think you're joking about that," he said, "but I've met the guy. At least he also managed to pencil us in there, too. I'm glad you guys are having a good time."

Presumably without daemons and zombie hordes as well.

Would Ignis respond better to being left behind? And hey! Zombie hordes were ton of fun when they were yours! Liliana'd had a great time with her tiny squadron. You know desecrating churches, committing war crimes, sowing the seeds for the next horrific thing to happen to Innistrad...

Actually, nah, more like watering the seeds that had already been sown, Sorin Markov, you short-sighted idiot.

"I absolutely am not," Liliana snorted. "But Noctra's party was less penciled in and more like inked. There was never a question of Ignis not showing up to celebrate." She paused for maximum effect before adding casually, "though to make up for it, he's suggested we extend our stay through Wednesday."

Yeah, Gladio could think of some pretty damn good examples of exactly why how Ignis responded to stuff wasn't necessarily always a good guide to go by, anyway...

But that response? Did cause Gladio to tilt his head a little.

"Did he?" he asked. "Huh. Guess he really does like the place, then."

Well, something told him it had way more to do with the company than the location, but the man did love his wine...

He'd have the same company whether they stayed or left. Though once they left, he would miss out on the opportunity to appreciate Liliana sunbathing. February in the Northern Hemisphere was a curse.

"So it seems," Liliana said. "Perhaps he just hasn't gotten enough fly-fishing in yet?"

She was hilarious.

"Or he's giving us more excuses to avoid the contractors, which I can hardly blame him for."
