Prompto would be entirely honest; if there was anything a bit different going on in town, he was completely unaware of it, because he'd been singularly focused since pretty much Friday on getting things all ready and set up for Noctra's birthday party today. The decorations were an amalgamation of both puppy things and football things, with a both First Year Down! and Let's Pawty! balloons to really drive it home.

And, of course, the birthday girl herself was showing her appreciation for the theme, as well! Unfortunately, with her dad's excitement all morning in getting things up, she hadn't been able to nap like he was hoping she would, so he was holding his breath that the whole thing wouldn't make her too cranky or overwhelmed, but at least there was plenty to distract her in the meantime. Including a little help from Rain pulling in duty as Party Ruferee.

Then there was getting everything with the catering set out for the guests, which included your typical moddable game day fare, but especially puppy chow, mini hot dogs, and, of course pizza rolls! There were a puppy bowl birthday cake, even, with some vegan cupcake puppy players!

And, of course, near the entrance, there were plenty of party hats for anyone who wanted to claim their allegiance for Team Ruff or Team Fluff or just Team Noctra (he suspected those would be the most popular, really).

And for once, after everything was set up and copious amounts of pictures had been taken, Prompto actually wasn't feeling like he hadn't gone enough on the theme, and was feeling pretty good about this one, actually!

Heck, even if you've never talked to either of them, you could have ~mysteriously~ gotten one, too! Maybe it's your big destiny to meet your true love at a one-year-old's puppy bowl party, you don't know!! ]]

If there was anything that guaranteed you an invitation to a baby's first birthday, surely it was the possession of two babies of your own, right? Though Annie would have probably been here regardless, even without the excuse of needing to escort her own children.

And while she had valiantly tried to find either football or puppy-related clothing for them, all she'd turned up was a pair of Ben's jammies with dalmatians and firetrucks. (Which, like, adorable, but not appropriate for a party.) So, instead, she'd leaned into a different animal aesthetic, one she had seen Noctra herself sporting recently, and thus both Ben and Maggie arrived with their mother -- who, herself, had turned up in yet another unstained sweatshirt, you're all welcome -- in style.

And considering she'd also brought a gift for the birthday girl, there might have been a little bit of juggling as she made her way through the door. God only knew where she'd parked that monster stroller.

"Annie! Ben and Maggie!"

Was there a particular little totally dorky but guess who did not care thrill at the fact that there were now other children at this child's birthday party in Prompto's greeting? Oh, absolutely, he was never going to stop being absolutely stoked about anything that emphasized the dadness of it all.

But he had all this energy, and Annie only had so many hands, so he was very quick to be all, "Here, let me help you with..." His attention bounced between kids and present and then his hands went for the present, "that, come on in, did you need anything for the kids?"

And, hey, with Noctra actually toddling around now, at least Annie could rest assured that the place was already super-baby-proofed!

Annie was all too happy to hand over that little pink Magna-doodle table thing with a grin, shaking her head at his question. "I'm good. I came prepared," she added with a wink, because obviously there was totally a diaper bag that also just hadn't been mentioned. Babies and their light traveling! You knew this game well, Prompto. "Congrats on making it a year."

There were days Annie was not sure she and Diego would make it another month, so. Quite an accomplishment, there!

Oh,man, it was hard to tell who was going to actually get the most out of that table, honestly: Noctra? Or Prompto himself? Either way, he happily took it from Annie now with a chuckle.

"Thanks!" he said. "Hard to kinda believe it's been a year already, like, what? But I know I don't need to tell you about that. Before you even know it, you'll be having this moment, too, but, like, double! And, oh, hey, while you're here, if we got tome, I've got some things? If you're interested? That Noctra's either outgrown or doesn't really need anymore, but that Ben and Maggie or you guys might like!"

“Hi Annie , Maggie, Ben,” Liz smiled at them fondly as she looked back up at Annie, “thank you all for coming,”

"We wouldn't miss it," Annie assured her, shifting the babies up a little on her hips so they could both fix their respective gigantic sets of brown eyes on Liz, curiously. "The twins have been especially excited, of course. Their first party."

Liz smiled at that, “I hope they enjoy their first party,” she said fondly, “I still can’t believe how quickly the last year’s gone,” she admitted.

"I hear you," Annie replied sympathetically, and she did. Sometimes it felt like she'd just been pregnant still yesterday. "Kids make the passage of time really...tangible, all of a sudden."

After all, she was holding a couple reminders that it had, in fact, been three whole months since that ordeal.
