The Apartment above the Photo Hut; Tuesday Morning [04/04].

One of the nice things about being a puppy, really, had been the dreams. As a puppy, curled up somewhere between the foot of the bed and against Liz's side, Prompto twitched a little as he slept, deeply entrenched in a nice dream about herding chocobos. Nice, simple, happy kinds of dreams which were a strong departure from the ones he usually had, so much so that, even though he was asleep, he could tell when he'd changed back, because those dreams took a sudden, dramatic turn toward the dark that had him gasping awake, still curled up as he had been, and, of course, entirely naked.

It took him a moment, to orient himself, to register all the altered states of his being, from asleep to awake, from dream to reality, from dog to human again, to place where he was and the details of the circumstances. He couldn't help a faint grin over the fact that this transformation was likely to go much better than the last time this had happened, looking over at Liz still sleeping there and feeling pretty confident that this wasn't going to make things extremely awkward between them.

(He hoped!)

But he figured his chances on that were pretty good, and so he shifted a little, a hand gently on Liz's arm to avoid startling her too much as he started to snuggle up a little closer and whispered, "Hey, Liz. You up?"

"Hi," Prompto echoed back, closing his eyes and just savoring the moment with a pleased smile on his face. Definitely much better than the last time this had happened, and he let Liz know how grateful he was for that by planting his next kiss on her neck, and laughing a little. "Good to know. You could have preferred me staying a puppy..."

Well, probably not while there was also a baby and a cat already to handle, but you never knew!

Liz giggled as she reached a hand up to Prompto’s cheek to give it a gentle stroke, “you were an adorable puppy, but I’m definitely happy that you’re back and I know Noctra and Rain will both be happy to see you as well,” she told him with a smile.

"Mmm." Eyes still closed, Prompto hummed gratefully at that hand on his cheek, leaning into it a little before turning his head just enough to land a kiss on Liz's palm, followed shortly by another one on her wrist.

Much, much better than the last time he'd turned back from being a puppy.

"You," he stated, kisses now back to her shoulder, back to her neck, between words as his own hand drifted down her side toward her hip, "handled it like a champ, too. That was a lot! For me to stick you with for that long. I sure hope I can make it up to you...somehow..."

Although the continued flow of strategically placed kisses and making the most out of having actual hands again suggested that he already had a good idea of where to start with that.

"Oh?" Liz grinned up at Prompto as she enjoyed the feel of all of those kisses, taking a moment to savour each one as she moved in as close as she could to Prompto, she had missed this, "I do like the sound of that, what did you have in mind?"

She already had a fair idea of what he was planning but she had missed talking with Prompto and it was nice to actually be able to able to have a conversation with him where he would talk back instead of bark.

"Mmm, well," Prompto mused, smirking into his kisses now, "I'd like to tell you, but I think it works better as a surprise."

Oh, yes. Such a surprise, very mysterious, how could anyone possibly guess what he might have in mind! Truly, an enigma for the ages.

There was a little tug and shifting of her pajamas, fingers seeking out skin.

"I can tell you that you're definitely way overdressed for it," he informed her, importantly.

It was truly a mystery.

Liz shivered as her skin tingled with Prompto’s touch and she started to blush slightly at that, “oh we can’t have that now can we?” she said with a grin and she started to pull down her pajama bottoms as quickly as she could.

“Is this better?” she asked shyly, her smile widening as she began to tug at her top once her pajama bottoms had been removed.

Prompto waited until that top was cleared before responding, but at least the wait wasn't too long, as he was definitely helping her speed up the process. In fact, any additional delay was entirely from him taking a moment, with his hands trailing back down Liz's sides, to truly appreciate the progress they'd made with a lopsided grin.

"Much better," he finally confirmed, sliding his hands around to her back to pull her in close to kiss her, slowly, eagerly, deeply...

Well, maybe not too deeply, because Prompto didn't get too far into the part before the unmistakable wails of a crying baby burst through the monitor on the bedside table. At least Noctra had the decently with let put a fussy whimper before really letting loose, and Prompto responded with a groan as he tilted his head back and sighed.

"Well," he said, "guess we're not the only ones awake, now, huh?"

Liz had let out a soft moan as Prompto’s hands ran down her sides and then prepared to lean into that kiss and was prepared to enjoy it and savour it and keep the embrace going as long as possible …

Then she heard the sound of Noctra crying and looked rather apologetically up at Prompto.

“she must have heard us,” she sighed as she started to sit up and see if she could find where she had discarded her pajama bottoms.

Prompto closed his eyes for a moment more, as if to recapture some of that private peace they'd just been sharing, but the crying from the other room was definitely making that very difficult.

"Clearly a targeted attack against any future siblings," he remarked. "Ruthless."

But as Prompto sat up a little himself, he used the movement to wrap an arm around Liz and lean her back into the bed with another, albeit much quicker kiss.

"You," he said, "stay right here and be comfy while I go see what all the fuss is about. I'm pretty overdue for my turn at this point."

Another kiss to attempt to stave off any arguments before he peeled away in an attempt to locate a pair of shorts and a t-shirt for himself.

Liz had been about to protest and try and get up but then when Prompto kissed her and leaned her back against the bed, she found that she was quite tired and after an initial reluctance, settled back down against the pillows and she let out a yawn.

“I mean, if you’re sure … I can still go and check on her,” she added but she was making no move to sit back up again, she was looking quite comfortable where she was.

"Positive," Prompto assured her, closing the dresser drawer and pulling on some shorts. "You've been practically managing a zoo around here this last week, it's the least I could do now that I'm not all fluffy, four-legged, and canine."

He pulled on his shirt next, and then threw Liz a quick wink before just sighing happily at the vision of her there on the bed, which was almost enough to distract him entirely from the task at hand if it weren't for Noctra's continual reminder of what he was doing outside of that bed and not practically attached to his wife for all it was worth right now.

"BRB," he assured her, before slipping out and over to the nursery, where his soothing tone and teasing questions toward his daughter as he picked her up out of the crib to settle her down would soon be filtering through the monitor as well, to...middling results, but that was fair, he'd lost a good week of impressionable face time there, but he seemed to win her over with a little bit of reassuring barks and tummy tickles.

And then his voice came through the monitor a little more directly, with a few sounds meant to impersonate static and an attempt to make his voice a little muffled as if going through a walkie-talkie instead. "Errrm, 10-4, home base, this is Papa Prompto, checking in. Happy to report, crisis averted, seems like all we've got on our hands is a cranky little lady and a dirty diaper, but we'll have that cleaned up in no time. Do you copy? Over."

Because, hi, Liz, in case you forgot during his stint as a puppy this last week, you definitely married a big nerd.

Liz smiled as she heard Prompto in the nursery with Noctra as she waited, just in case he needed help and then she grinned when Prompto’s voice came through loud and clear on the baby monitor.

She couldn’t help but giggle as she heard Prompto’s voice come through because she had definitely missed all these interactions in the last week, she picked up the baby monitor and spoke it into it, “er …Roger, received loud and clear Papa Prompto, Mama Liz wants a full and detailed report when you return, over,” and then that was followed by a burst of giggles because that had also not changed during Prompto's stint as a puppy.

"Mmmm, negative, Mama Liz," came Prompto's response with a burst of implied static. "cannot confirm. Report will not be detailed, because the less said about diaper detail, the better. Over."

Followed by a much quieter, clearly intended to be to himself but forgetting that the monitor was not in fact a walkie-talkie and would pick up on it regardless, "How? How is it even possible? What has she been feeding you this week? Is your power actually managing to defy physics, Noctra, damn."

Liz winced a bit at that and was feeling guilty that Prompto was the one dealing with the diaper change at the moment.

“Er - Roger, understood that report will not be so detailed” and then there was a pause and she added sheepishly, because yes she did hear that last part and then added normally, “well I can safely say there was no unusual changes to her feeding, even though I did eat some of the meals that Ignis prepped for us the week before,” she admitted.

She really would have to thank Ignis for those, they had been a life saver over the past week.

"So blame Ignis," Prompto noted with a grin, though he still shook his head as he took to the necessary clean-up tasks, shaking his head just a little at how this morning so far had definitely already been a pretty dramatically different swinging series of events. Pup to pets to poop, all in one fell swoop. "Got it. But boy, those meals really came in clutch last week for you, didn't they? Talk about good timing!"

"It was really good timing," Liz agreed, "there's still some meals left if you want them, I didn't eat all of them but it was nice to not have to cook during the week, I don't think I would have had the energy to otherwise," she admitted, "I'll have to thank him next time I see him," she added.

"Have you talked to him at all last week?" Prompto wondered, between making faces at Noctra, who was honestly more interested in just blowing spit bubbles at the moment than anything he was doing, which worked out just fine for him right now, all things considered. "I wonder if he'd been dealing with Gladio as a plant again; that definitely happened the last time I turned into a puppy, although the first time he turned into a plant, I turned into a blue bard, I think."

"I haven't had a change to talk to him," Liz admitted, "I did listen to radio though, I think this morning's report did mention that Ignis was looking after a pot plant, I'm assuming that was Gladio since it got mentioned that you were a puppy as well,"

"Maaaaan," Prompto had to chuckle, shaking his head and taking a small break to squeeze a few little toes that were kicking the air in front of him, "can you imagine, just being a plant? Iggy's got it easy, all he had to really do is remember to water him, probably.

"...this is nice," he added, after a moment, grinning toward the monitor and just assuming Liz could hear it in his voice. "I missed being able to talk to you in actual words and phrases and sentences."

"I don't know what's involved with looking after a plant beyond watering it but I imagine that Ignis did a good job looking after Gladio," Liz did smile at that, "and I've missed this as well, I'd almost forgotten what it was like to be able to talk to someone who can talk back to me, you did try as a puppy but it was a lot more one sided," she admitted.

Prompto chuckled. "I think I did pretty good, though!" he insisted. "All things considered! I mean, no offense to Noctra or Rain, but I like to think puppy me managed to blow them out of the park, as far as conversation went! I will be willing to concede to them a good fight as far as snuggles go, though."

Liz did laugh gently at that, "well you were the closest I got to a normal conversation, ," she considered, "Noctra's trying but she still has quite a bit to go there and Rain well ... Rain is Rain," she said, "I don't think she liked having snuggles competition this week though," she added.

"I'll have to make it up to her, then, too," Prompto decided, "especially since she so cruelly has had so much undivided attention so criminally stolen from her by an adorable attention monster."

Considering where his morning had been going until just a little bit ago, he could definitely relate to the feeling! But he had to admit, it was pretty impossible to be too mad about it.
